Or so it would appear at first blush until you realize that the legs of these lovely ladies are a bit on the masculine side. I’m not sure what the story is with the severe looking gentleman and his standard poodles but part of me feels that this was taken at some sort of summer camp for acrobats. No doubt it was all a front and the campers were used as labor in a salt mine. It seems quite likely that this photo was staged in order to convince nervous parents that all was well and a great time was being had by all. The poodles seem to have been used to keep everyone in line.

Back in the early 90’s David Cronenberg adapted Naked Lunch to film, a release that had a profound effect on my development, introducing me not only to the works of Cronenberg but also Burroughs and then further into the strange labyrinth of cinema and beat poetry. Naturally, the film was received with a mixed reaction; an unsurprising turn of events considering the combination of both Cronenberg and Burroughs was likely to stir the hornets nest of fanboyism for the latter. Personally, I found my first (and subsequent) viewing of it similar to the abject horror followed by near post-coital bliss of the insipid Reese’s commercials from the 80’s; two great tastes that did indeed taste great together.

While I could prattle on about my love for Cronenberg, Burroughs, and the combination of the two artist’s work for hours on end I’m also able to admit it’s not going to be to everyone’s tastes. Regardless, if you’re enough of a thick-skulled bint not to wholly appreciate the film in its entirety (it’s ok, we still love you, but you only get half an Octobee for Christmas this year), simply mute your TV; because this movie is pure eye-candy ladies and gents. The hits just keep on comin’ folks. This time our diminutive dancer has some real star power behind her, bumping and grinding along to the Amy Winehouse hit, Rehab and her friend in the mask has an expanded speaking groaning role.

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what I think about the veracity of this story but the above photo, while slightly disturbing, sent me into an uncontrollable laughing seizure. It seems that someone in the Japanese Department of Education came up with an idea to combat their country’s declining birth rate by instituting “position training” in Physical Education classes starting in second grade. The time used for this training will be diverted from “ceremony and bowing practice” lessons.

If this is indeed true the Japanese must be applauded for, at the very least, giving an honest and accurate portrayal of the sexual act. They pull no punches, as can clearly be seen in the photo; the young boy, eager and enthusiastic, his partner limply feigning enthusiasm and enjoyment in return while trying not to laugh in his face.

Let’s ignore for a moment the fact that Fez was nominated for two awards at the Independent Games Festival this year. For the sake of argument let us even ignore the fact that it won an award for Excellence in Visual Design and that aside from looking completely gorgeous it is adorable as all hell.

This is a game about a diminutive albinoid with an over-sized head, an affinity for Mediterranean cranial stylings, and a jones for inappropriate nudity. By that description alone your interest should be piqued, though there is another draw, one far too insidious to be unintentional. Don’t see it yet? Give the little bastard a pipe and you, my friend, are playing what is likely to be one of the greatest gaming achievements of our era: a John Brownlee simulator.

Ectomo’s crusty, drunken Uncle Ellis pointed out in his Bad Signal email that today is, indeed, Valentine’s Day, that horrid celebration, seemingly designed by a shadowy syndicate of florists, chocolatiers, and greeting card manufacturers for the sole purpose of peddling their normally over-priced wares at an even greater profit margin. However, it is worth pointing out that, like most Christian holidays, Valentine’s Day occupies the date of an earlier, pagan holiday and, like many pagan holidays it consisted of the usual, heathen tropes, i.e.: costumes, drinking, sacrifice, and a focus on fertility.
