An ad for French toy store Gepeto Village. The visual itself is really very nice, however I am inclined to agree with some of the comments found in the link in that it seems to contradict the message, which is that they wish to keep these toys out of the hands and, in turn, minds of children. If anything, perhaps they should have gone with different text.

As in: “this particular child is clearly ready to stick any kind of violent toy directly into another child’s eye.”

To me this seems to be stating that a child’s mind is an inherently dangerous thing and that the next logical step to keep your children safe would be lobotomies for all.

if playing with violent toys means you grow up to make art that awesome, then why would you want to take that away from children?? Madness.

Didn’t Gepeto make himself a little boy to play with?
I’d rather my kids be violent than subjects to pedophilia.

I think that it would make the coolest 3-d puzzle ever. Violent toys or a slinky? what right thinking child would chose a mass of wire over something toothy, mutated and bristling with weapons.

It should just say “READ.”

- So if the kid getz dangerous toys they will cause mass destruction from the dangers which already overfill their brain?
- It would make more sense to have a pure brain up there, as to symbolize that the child currently is innocent are therefore should not be made corrupt; but they went at it all wrong.
- Maybe they should have put a toy knife jabbing into the kids skull destroying its brain. That would bring out the message more.
- I like the pic though. ( >

Yeah, I’m with myles. I initially thought this ad was a wholly satirical statement, with the subtext being “If you’re going to try to take away all ‘violent toys’, you’d have to find a way to eliminate kids’ imagination.” I mean, that looks like the natural state of a healthy kid’s brain, to me.
