Noise du Jour’s Mashups: “Siouxsie Back” by A plus D
Posted by Qais Fulton
Who would have thought the pairing of Siouxsie Sioux, 80’s goth nymphette extraordinaire, and Justin Timberlake, panty-dampening pop-star, would result in such a glorious piece of music? A Plus D, apparently. The self described “bastard pop creations” the duo churns out are simply amazing, if for no other reason than the shock of hearing the frankensteinian combinations resultant from their deranged musical ministrations.

Yeah, A+D is pretty awesome. There’re a lot of great mashups out there that, if you only see the titles of the songs that were used, really shouldn’t work, but end up being great. REM’s “Losing My Religion,” for instance, probably wouldn’t go well with Basement Jaxx’s “Where’s Your Head At,” but it works! A mashup artist called Mr. Tortazo proved that. Party Ben is another great mashup maker, and is probably a big reason why they’re so popular these days, due to his “Sixx Mixx” radio show that ran here in San Francisco for a number of years.

This is… really good.
Not the first time I’ve heard one of these unholy unions but perhaps the best.

Yeah… the A + D mashes are very good. Check out the best of Bootie 2006 which included this. (www.bootieusa.com/bestofbootie2006/)
Their 2005 and 2007 mixes are pretty good as well.
I love the party Ben Experience, and search out 2ManyDJs and/or Soulwax. All worth listening to.

Nice mash up. Thanks
In addition to the other mashers mentioned, I really dig on Girl Talk. I love his party mixes.

Any wardrobe malfunctions involved in the making of this?
