Ecthomo: A Modern Nomad

Posted by Qais Fulton

In your daily meanderings through the hallowed halls of Ectomo you may at some point have taken note of my odd name. I can assure you it isn’t the result of air-headed, hippie parents and in spite of my questionable ancestry and modern American nature I still have quite a bit of reverence for parts of my dubious heritage.

As such, I can’t help but love this outfit recently featured by fashion aficionado The Sartorialist. This woman is the spitting image of the pack of post-apocalyptic Neo-Bedouins that stalk across the vast expanses of my imagination. I adore the combination of flowing, layered fabrics employed as shawl and head dress, and the tight, boot strapped pants easing mobility, all of which unites to form the image of an ancient wanderer fit for a modern age.

That is so cool .. although I don’t like the boots. Think it might work as well with cowboy boots (well worn ones of course) LOL :)

This is awesome, I would dress like this if i had a good excuse. I love flowing clothes, wearing them makes you feel like you’re really moving through your environment in a more tangible way than if you’re in normal western clothes.

At this point, Ectomo is probably my favorite fashion blog, among other things.

I used to own pants which could work with this outfit, purchased with the help of a gun-runner in the Sinai Desert. The other highlight of that suk was a girl wearing a hot pink hijab matched with a tight, equally pink shirt with “Sexy Bitch” written on it in glitter.

The scarf-as-head-cover-also approach is so incredibly useful. In the frigid north east, it takes at least two scarves in addition to various other wintry accouterments to survive a quarter mile walk.

I’m confused. What is Ecthomo? Is this supposed to indicate that Qais is gay? Did I miss something?
