So THIS is what Ted Kennedy is afraid of…

These spot the landscape across the Mojave, particularly around Palm Springs, and each and every time I drove past I willingly endangered my vehicle while staring at the horizon holding out for a glimpse of the destruction portrayed above.

    This video delivers.

from watching the video a few times, it seems it wasn’t a direct result of the on the blades, but rather a flying object striking them. if you pause right after the first ticking sound (RIGHT before it goes boom), you’ll notice one of the blades is split in two…

I think Exor’s right. I’m pretty sure I saw something strike one of the props.

It is entirely possible that something hits one of the blades, but I’m not seeing it. It looks to me that just before the blade breaks they all start to wobble a bit, finally culminating with the one twisting and breaking. The sound seems like it would be the noise of the blade breaking. Perhaps I’m just not pausing on the correct frame. Can anyone find anything definitive on this clip?

Sorry Ross, it’s hard to say at such a low resolution. But my line of thinking is that if one of the blades had indeed nicked the support column, it would’ve buckled sooner… but there’s no damage on the column after the first blade goes boom.

I wonder if it was a bird
