It’s a relative unknown that many women have what is called tetrachromatism, the ability to see four basic colors instead of three. Among the bevy of reasons causing me to lament my broken chromosome is my lack of tetrachromatic sight and the ability to truly appreciate the works of artists like Hattori.

    Hey Qais,

Firstly, it is difficult to type your name, u-less as it is. Counterintuitive. Maybe if I play more Scrabble.

Secondly, I’m curious, did you throw in the mention of tetrachromacy because you’d seen a reference to it in relation to this work, or just because it’s a ToM/Ectomo Topic Of Choice?

Weird, I think it’s pretty easy to type my name.

Now that you mention it I do remember the ToM post about tetrachromacy but when I initially saw this work my first reaction was “Damn, I bet this would look even cooler if I had tetrachromatic sight”

There’s one of those stupid key-combination reflexes that tells my fingers to automatically follow a “q” with a “u”. Your name helps me break it up! Hooray! Qais.

My instinct is to deny the existence of tetrachromacy, just because the thought of not being able to see AN ENTIRE COLOR would rankle too much. It’s a sollipsistic form of logic, but then aren’t they all?
