Here lies Mark Voegel, eaten to death by his pets: 200 spiders, several snakes, thousands of termites and a gecko, feasting on his corpse.
“It was like a horror movie. His corpse was over the sofa. Giant webs draped him, spiders were all over him. They were coming out of his nose and his mouth. There was everything there one could imagine in the world of reptiles. Larger pieces of flesh torn off by the lizards were scooped up and taken back to the webs of tarantulas and other bird-eating spiders”

what’s the matter people? never seen a 160 pound man reduced to so many meals for other hungry creatures?
if you think that’s gross, what about that surgery video from ToM days with the egg sac in that dude’s brain? awesome.
i’ll eat that, Heksje, if you’re done with it. then i think i’ll take a nap. ^_~

This is hogwash, or Eurowash; those people can barely recognize an animal, much less know anything about them. Gekos and spiders aren’t interested in “flesh.” If anything was going on, the spiders and lizards were after the flies the man’s corpse attracted. I’m gonna consider this a myth until I see some evidence.

Yeah, I don’t believe it. It’s mentioned nowhere reputable elsewhere on the internet, and the story doesn’t make sense. Did every single cage’s “heating element” blow up at the same time? Or was everything all in the same cage? Was that before or after he was supposedly bitten? I couldn’t find a mention of this story anywhere remotely reputable elsewhere on the internet, and browsing around the rest of digitaljournal.com reveals that it’s not exactly a well-researched or well-written site. I did find reprints of basically this story as long ago as 2004, elsewhere on the net, though.
Anyway - I call bull. This is total urban legend material.
