Rockin’ The Dog Sack
Posted by Ross Rosenberg
For those who like their canine companion but love their car, Popular Mechanics, circa 1936, has this stupendous invention made, seemingly, just for you. Not so much a sidecar but a burlap sack, attached to your vehicle with c-clamps and hooks, it assures a sense of danger and excitement that your pooch is sure to appreciate as you hurtle down the freeway.

Awful.
Worst I’ve ever seen was some jackass with his dog in a basket on the back of his motorcycle.

To soon be turned into Bowser Bits, when you get T-boned by that gas tanker! There’s a reason we’ve got impact ratings for the INSIDE of cars, kiddies.

I like how afer securing said pooch you can finally get into your dazzling automobile and be on your merry way… that is if you remember to be careful closing the driver’s side door.
@Seth – Bowser bits, nice!!!

Neat! Is there a mother-in-law sized version?

Considering the average speed as well as the lack of paved roads, I can see why this might have been considered a good idea back then.

Hell no, this is a great idea, and the average dog would love it. Only trouble is, you can’t close the rear window because of the hooks. Better just go on putting the dog in the trunk, with the kids.
