Life In Russia

Photographer Aleksey Petrosian’s stunning set detailing life in the former U.S.S.R. I cannot vouch for the their accuracy in portraying day to day Russian life, but the quality of the compositions is simply extraordinary.

I like englishrussia.com, it’s neat to see what poverty and cruelty are like in other parts of the world. The UE/architectural-related stuff is cool too, kinda makes me want to move to Magnitogorsk and live in a converted tractor factory.

I share your sentiments, Ross. It’s one of the most extraordinary portfolios of many that are posted on EnglishRussia.

Powerful collection of images.
The seventh picture, the one with the soldiers passing before a bum…. the expression of that young lad looking at the camera, I’d swear there’s some WWII picture with a fellow sporting a very similar expression/pose. Maybe my memory bank misfiring.

The dogs all over the place is true. Russia doesn’t have a pound. I remember walking the streets of St. Petersburg and seeing random packs of dogs roaming the streets.

It’s weird…to me Russia seems like such a surreal place and those pictures just add to that feeling. Probably an effect of having never set foot outside of the US…makes me want to get out and travel a bit…

Those photographs were amazing. I wonder what the span of time for the pictures is. Last decade? Last year? Last night? I’m guessing they’re fairly recent shots..
By the by, did anyone happen to see this lol-worthy comment? http://englishrussia.com/?p=2217#comment-410430

Fake collection, most likely – unless the photographer is a web virgin before that post. Shame when e-tards steal photos to publish for their own interests without giving credit. Can’t even tell if all of them were taken in russia. While cool images – just another webfad.
