Noise du Jour: “The Song of the Count” (Lemon Demon Version)
Posted by John Brownlee
A simple joke lifted to greatness by the divinity of its execution alone. Don’t give it a chuckle and turn it off after the first ten seconds: the Count really hits his stride in the second stanza.

I laughed.
I’m glad I watched just enough Sesame Street as a kid to get this but not nearly enough to be offended by it.

This is amazing. Partially because I have a memory from high school involving this song, me, a girl, and an EROTICALLY CHARGED SITUATION.
Sometimes I remember why I love my life.

You MUST elaborate.
No lie: I own a vinyl 45 of this song. On the opposite side is another Count song, I think “The Batty-Bat.” Man, Sesame Street was truly great back in the day; I’d say it’s just been going through the motions for no less than 15 years now.

After reading about Pony above, I really needed to see this.
I love the Count, and now I have The Batty-Bat stuck in my head.
Damn you LF. Damn you right in the ear!

As I used to say, Kimi, fuck ‘em in a place they’ve never been fucked. I was usually thinking of the ear when I’d say it.
One of my favorite bits of dialogue from Sesame Street involves The Count, when he’s on a gameshow hosted by Guy Smiley:
Count: Hello there, Guy! My name is The Count! They call me The Count because I love to count things!
Guy: Hello there, Count! My name is Guy Smiley! They call me Guy Smiley because I changed my name from Bernie Liederkrantz!
Brilliant.
