They Grow On Trees
Posted by Ross Rosenberg

Mollusc Tree by Keith Thompson.
High up in the mountains one can find these spindly trees, their boughs bowed with ripe, succulent cephalopods. In the fall, villagers make the long trek up the mountains’s craggy slopes for the annual harvest. Later, as is common after every harvest, the smell of cephalopod cider and octopie will be born on the back of the cool, autumnal breeze. Children will be busy fashioning their mollusk masks while the grown-ups hang tentacle streamers. There is an excitement in the air, one can feel it, like a static charge: the Squid Festival is almost here.

I like how the google ads respond by offering links to fruit tree web sites. Unfortunately, none of them offer this cultivar of fruit tree. Disappointing, to say the least.
