Announcement: Fear and Lost in Translation! Plus: Ectomo Guest Editors Next Week!
Posted by John Brownlee

This will come as a surprise to those of you who don’t follow our alternate game journalist personas (and why would you?), but next week Eliza and I will be in Tokyo, covering a video game conference for Destructoid as gonzo culture journalists.
What this essentially means is that we are being paid to fly around the world and — in a feverish delirium of alcohol and caffeine that will transform us into the nightmarish caricatures of a Ralph Stedman illustration — write about our surreal adventures. We’re calling it Fear and Lost in Translation and you can read a bit about our plans here.
We’re not very likely to have time to contribute to Ectomo while we’re there, but never fear: we’ve lined up three crackerjack fill-ins from our constabulary of readers. They’ll be introducing themselves over the course of the weekend, but here’s who we’ve lined up…
• Qais “Ernest” Fulton, one of the more talented of Eliza’s twinks, or at least talented enough to write for Ectomo while still being free. Think of the hot girl at the end of the bar who could almost get into mainstream porn if she wasn’t a Thai hermaphrodite. You might remember his review of Tori Spelling’s Cthulhu we published awhile back. Qais also does some work for The Weekly Geek, a gaming blog and podcast that always snubs me while inviting Eliza on as a guest.
• Ectomo-favorite Cthulhoid writer Derek C.F. Pegritz, author of the much-pimped Trois Freres. What does the C.F. stand for? Lewd suggestions are welcome in every one of Derek’s posts! We love Derek and are delighted that he is coming onboard for a week to provide free content for the very blog he pays to advertise upon.
• Long-time reader of ToM and Ectomo, Mr. Ross Rosenberg. In addition to being a Knight of Israel, Ross Rosenberg was the only reader who commented on the Eliza “Goes Like This” post without utterly disgracing himself, the only reader who managed to respond to the post without his words resembling thick, gelatinous ropes of spooge-like electrons chunkily dripping down the screen. In sheer gratitude for his creativity and restraint, Eliza demanded I ask him to help fill in for us. We like to reward those amongst our readers who have “game.”
Anyway, they’ve got access to the ectotweet and the tip line, so please, help them out and send them tips. Make them feel loved!
As for Eliza and myself, one of our priorities while we’re locked in a hotel room in Tokyo together for the week is to put our pulsating foreheads together, brainstorm some new ideas for Ectomo and get the blog back on track. We’ve been slacking lately and we know it. I’m hoping that somewhere in the throes of my sake-induced delirium tremens, as Eliza vibrates around the room like a small child high on lemonade, we will come up with some really great ideas for moving Ectomo forward.
Please show the new guys some love. And if any of our readers happen to live in Tokyo, hey, drop us a line: Eliza and I would be pleased as punch to kick down your door in the middle of the night, raid your refrigerator, vomit in your toilet without flushing and get peanut butter between the pages of all your mangas.

You know, it’s a trek and a half, but I’d love to see you two come to Dragon*Con, one year. Then I could give you something to drink which would sate (almost) every base craving you have.
I think you’d love it.

Oh rats. I forgot that was coming up!
Have a fun, safe trip, you two. May many delicious boozes help you with your jet lag. If we promise not to turn your guest writers in to gibbering, cenobyte-like abominations in your absence, will you bring us back some interesting tentacle porn? oo oo oo, or some curious street fashion photos?
Also John, before I forget, let me know when you’re back so I can send you that book. I’m debating just scanning it in for you but that seems so crass. I dunno. We’ll talk.
